The volunteer-run Jefferson Valley Museum at 303 S. Division in Whitehall opened for the season on Memorial Day weekend.
It costs nothing to visit the museum, which is open noon to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday until it closes for the season on Sept. 15.
According to a news release, recent improvements include an ongoing renovation of the John Jardine Building that houses “The Cowboy Room” and the car collection.
Attractions include “The War Room” — which covers conflicts from the Spanish American War to the present day — gold mining memorabilia, a blacksmith shop and a collection of wedding gowns.
“Each area has a story of the families that settled this area and the connection to other cities through mining, music and politics,” the news release states.
