Now that we’re back in Helena after the transmittal break, legislators are focused on finalizing Montana’s $12 billion budget. I am committed to passing a balanced and fiscally responsible budget that protects your finances while funding services that enhance your quality of life.
I will support a budget that prioritizes schools, healthcare, roads, and first responders while also lowering property and income taxes for Montana families. Fortunately, we have a budget surplus, but it is important that we spend this surplus wisely to prepare for Montana’s future.
House Bill 2, Montana’s budget bill, consists of six sections that highlight the services provided to residents. From economic development and funding the National Guard to keeping rural hospitals open, increasing teacher pay, and upgrading aging infrastructure, a responsible budget approach will help Montana thrive while ensuring you keep more of your hard-earned money.
We are making significant progress toward providing immediate and permanent property tax relief, lowering income taxes, and securing funds to protect rural communities. Additionally, we are creating trusts to invest our surplus dollars, which will help prevent costly tax increases in the future. As a conservative Republican, I will continue to prioritize fiscal responsibility, lower taxes, and long-term planning to ensure that Montana remains the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
Thank you for the opportunity to represent you. Please let me know your thoughts.
