The Montana State Library Commission awarded a 2019 Excellent Library Service Award to Boulder Community Library, one of 44 libraries across the state to be so honored.
The award was given at the 107th annual Montana Library Association conference in Helena on April 13.
“The ELSA recognizes libraries for achieving excellence in serving their communities by exceeding the essential Montana Public Library Standards,” states a news release. “These standards define ‘excellence’ in thirteen categories, including collection development, information access, policies, planning and evaluation, fiscal management, board accomplishments, continuing education for staff and trustees, and outreach to the community.”
“This [recognition] means that Jefferson County Library System-Boulder/Whitehall have been working very hard to make sure our library patrons are getting the best possible library service we can offer,” Librarian Jodi Smiley said by email.
“Our library board has worked had on making policies that work with both communities, they have set aside money for the librarians and library staff to attend continuing education classes and continue to work on ensuring computer/internet services for all,” she wrote.
