Let’s cross partisan lines and talk

I appreciate Mr. Thackeray’s recent letter to the editor because I am trying to understand the results of the last election.

The issues he raised are important when one decides who to vote for in national elections.

To my thinking, local politics are different. Our county officials run as non-partisan candidates. They run on issues like schools, fire departments, water and sewer systems, flooding, economic growth, housing, infrastructure, zoning and planning. I believe that our representative should work with county officials and our communities to represent those interests in the state legislature.
