New parking lot in the works for Clancy School

Facing persistent concerns about safety, slow-moving traffic, and a lack of spaces, the Clancy School will overhaul its parking lot in a $410,000 project set to begin June 3.

The new lot, designed by Stahly Engineering and Associates, will include a dedicated lane for buses and reduce the number of entrances to two from three. It also will add 50 spaces to the east of the school building, freeing up space in front of the building to improve flow, especially in the busy times just before school starts and after it ends and during special events.

“When we have any kind of activity here, it’s almost dangerous for kids to walk across,” said Clancy superintendent Dave Selvig. “You don’t know where the cars are coming from.”
