Montana City VFD holds childhood cancer fundraiser Saturday

Montana City Volunteer Fire Department on Saturday is again hosting a head-shaving event to raise money for childhood cancer research and care.

Part of an annual nationwide St. Baldrick’s Foundation fundraising effort, it takes place from noon to 3:30 p.m. in the gym at Montana City School.

“This is a fundraiser, not a free haircut,” said Capt. Ken Kluth, who got his department involved in the event about a dozen years ago. “Similar to the March of Dimes, where you pledge a dollar amount per mile, you are pledging money for your head.”
