Rik J. “Murdock” Evans passed away at his home Tuesday, March 26, 2019. He was fifty years of age.
Rik was born in Butte as the youngest of four children to Roy and Nancy Evans. He grew up in Butte, attending local schools and then following his oldest sister by doing seasonal work at various resorts. He found a passion in cooking, becoming a skilled chef at a very young age. His cooking skills led him to travel the country.
After years of traveling he settled in Boulder and went to work at MDC, where he met and married his soulmate, Jackie. They were married in 2008 in South Lake Tahoe. After parting company with MDC, they opened Murdocks Cafe and ran it successfully.
Rik is survived by his wife, Jackie, son Zachary, sisters Katherine (Todd) Ramey and Jeannette Tibbetts, and mother-in-law Geneva Hout. He was preceded in death by his brother Lee, his parents and grandparents, and his infant son, Jeffery.
The family will host an informal celebration of his life on Saturday, April 6, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Windsor Bar in Boulder. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Hospitals, your local Humane Society or donor’s choice.
