No injuries, home spared in Montana City fire

A Montana City home was minimally damaged and no one was injured in an early Saturday fire that consumed an outbuilding and triggered a multi-agency response.

A lack of reflective addressing, and a long, steep and icy driveway that made it laborious to set a water supply, impeded the firefighters’ response, but the homeowners’ use of fire-resistant materials in building the home bought valuable time, according to a Montana City Volunteer Fire Department news release.

The family escaped safely after being roused by smoke detectors.
