The Montana High School Association again recognized Jefferson High School students who participate in certain activities for good grades.

The association determined this year’s winners of its Northwestern Energy Academic Excellence award by averaging the grades earned by students who took part in athletic, music or speech/drama programs during the 2017-2018 school year, states a news release.

One winner was named in each of the four athletic classifications of AA, A, B and C.

The average grade point average of the 186 qualifying JHS students was 3.428, putting JHS atop all Class B schools.

School Superintendent Tim Norbeck received the award on behalf of the students during the annual “Pack the House” event Saturday in the JHS gym.

It was the second time in five years that the school has received the award, he said, due to the students’ work ethic and their teachers’ dedication.
