Jefferson County’s active cases drop on Friday

The number of active COVID-19 cases has dropped from 14 to 12 as of Friday morning, according to the Jefferson County Public Health Department.

So far during this pandemic, which began in March, the county has recorded 17 cases, with five recoveries and one hospitalization, according to Molly Carey, clinic coordinator for the Jefferson County Department of Public Health.

The county logged two cases in March and another in May — the latter being a man who was not diagnosed in state — but didn’t begin getting additional cases until about two weeks ago.
