One state champ — and many hints for a bright future

After a long, eventful season, it was finally here: The State Wrestling Tournament, an all-class event that filled the Metra in Billings for three solid days, Feb. 13-15.

Forty-two teams were entered into the boys’ B/C tournament. Russell Douglas represented Jefferson High at 118 pounds, with Cooper Mikesell at 144, Mike Richard at 150, and Brady Armstrong and Dylan Stevens at 215 pounds.

The girls’ competition was challenging, since athletes from 77 teams across all classes wrestled in a single event. Emma Jurkovac wrestled for the Panthers at 100 pounds, Maysa LaFromboise at 120, Megan Anderson at 135 and Madison Neely at 190.
